The Astro-Physics RH-305 is an unusual system which is what makes it interesting to us and our members. According to Astro-Physics the 305’s design is a modification of the original Riccardi-Honders which “features diffraction-limited performance over a huge 3-degree field, which is ideal for capturing large faint nebulae over a wide wavelength range.” It has medium long focal length of 1160 mm along with an extremely fast f/3.8 focal ratio. We’ve paired it with an FLI 16200 CCD. The 16200 working at f/3.8 makes this system a light-gathering workhorse. Medium wide-field imagers seeking a suitable imaging platform will be satisfied with this option.
