RC Optical telescopes are staples of both research and astrophotography. At Deep Sky West Remote Observatory (DSW) we operate an RCOS 14.5″ Carbon Truss system as part of a fully automated astrophotography system. The RCOS is mated with a Paramount ME, SBIG STX-16803 and SBIG AO-X adaptive optics. The system is highly productive and is well placed under our >21.5 mag skies with seeing that is often 1″ or lower.
Below are a few examples of the excellent results achieved with the RCOS including an APOD by our member Steve Cooper who combined RCOS data with data collected with his home system.
